Dr. Orla Slattery

An alumna of Mary Immaculate College, Dr. Órla Slattery is a philosopher and educator who joined the Faculty of Education in 2011. As Inclusion Co-ordinator for Adults with Intellectual Disability, she has special responsibility for the Certificate in General Learning and Personal Development (CGLPD), which is a level 4 QQI programme which aims to enhance the personal, social and academic development of adults with intellectual disabilities.
In addition to co-ordinating and lecturing on the CGLPD, Órla works in conjunction with a number of community partners to develop pathways for students to transition to programmes of study within the college. She also oversees the development of inclusive blended learning initiatives, designed to scaffold and support student learning development.
Órla’s varied research interests include, the philosophy of inclusive education, inclusive curriculum and programme design, the philosophy of George Berkeley and the history of early modern science and optics.
